Design-Build Studio from the TU Berlin helped on the reconstruction of Chanco after the Earthquake in 2010

Ten students worked in the South of Chile together with Professors from the TU-Project “Housing-Manufacturing-Water” and the Head of the Project Seminar, “Reclaiming Heritage”, Renato D’Alencon – Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and the TU Berlin.  A first prototype of new housing was the goal to be completed by the German students with Chilean colleagues early April 2011.

Help initiatives in earthquake devastated areas

The disaster and emergency condition after the earthquake in February 2010 in Chile motivated to entities from all over the world to offer for help.

The HMW program from the TU had the initiative to develop a workshop, in which the main goal was to identify how education in the three areas of Housing, Manufacturing and Water can contribute to enable students for better management of natural disasters and improved rebuilding after natural disasters.
